About

[Film/TV/Media Composer]

Lochlan Boebel is fluent in orchestration and can write and mockup/sequence just about any style in any orchestral/cinematic genre.

“Although I do a lot of sequencing, I like to record as many real instruments as possible. I use Logic Pro X as my main DAW and do all the mixing/editing in Pro Tools. I’m also fluent in Digital Performer. But first and foremost, the music serves the film. When dealing with music for film, one must make sure that they never let their own agenda get in the way. It’s only ever about serving the film and helping the director see their vision through.

As a musician, I make it my goal to inspire people and to instill hope and compassion. I hope to touch people with music they haven’t heard before but can connect to and help people create more meaningful lives.”

[Electric/Upright Bass, Guitar player, and Drummer]

Lochlan is an Electric/Upright bass player and Berklee College of Music Alumni with degrees in Performance and Film Scoring. Due to impositions caused by the Coronavirus on the music industry, Lochlan moved temporarily from Los Angeles back to New York State, and is available for gigs/sessions/original scores/productions/and recordings of any of the instruments listed above. He is comfortable playing most styles, including Rock, Prog Rock, Pop, Jazz/Bebop, Classical, Film Music, Country, Metal, Latin, Bluegrass, etc…

“I always do my best to accommodate to each distinct musical situation by getting the best tone and feel that most suites the genre. I’ve learned the different bass techniques of each respective genre--Fingerstyle, Pick, Slap, and all the subtleties that fit each style/song. The basses I have are a Rickenbacker 4003s, Fender American Special P Bass, Carvin PB4 Active/Passive bass, A Music Man 5-string, and my trusty Upright bass with a pickup on it. With the basses, amps and effects that I have, I can cover just about whatever sound is needed.”

Lochlan is also an accomplished guitarist, fluent mostly in pop/rock but can also accommodate to other styles.

“I use a custom Telecaster made from mix of vintage and modern parts, and an Epiphone Sheraton II hollowbody, coupled with a couple of acoustic guitars. Right now I run those guitars through a variety of amps with a plethora of effects that about covers any guitar sound for any genre.”

Bio

Lochlan Boebel is a film composer and professional bassist located in Burbank, Los Angeles. He graduate from Berklee College of Music in 2019 with dual degrees in Film Scoring and Bass Performance.

Lochlan Boebel’s music journey started in a small town just south of Rochester NY, playing violin and trumpet from a young age until his early teens when he was introduced to classic rock music. After sparking an interest in the electric guitar, Lochlan had his father dig out his old guitars and 80’s equipment and started playing and exploring all the sounds a guitar can make.

During his teenage years, the bass playing in Yes and Rush inspired Lochlan to start learning both electric and upright bass and form his own rock band, while playing jazz and funk rock gigs all around the Rochester area, in musical theater pit orchestras alongside professional players, and in the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.

After earning an Advanced Jazz Diploma at the Eastman Community Music School in Rochester, Lochlan moved to Boston in 2015 to pursue degrees in both Performance and Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music. Since then, he has been scoring music for short films and performing in styles including  Jazz, Rock, Pop, Blues, R&B, and Musical Theater. He graduated in August 2019 and is now pursuing his career as a composer/performer in Los Angeles.
